Mission: What Stalks The Night
Location: Away Team

Vic was the form most immediately in front of the door, his formidable presence standing guard over the room. The news that James had given was not ideal. One way in or out. The creature was out there somewhere, which meant the only way back to the gel was to put every single person in the team at risk, again.

Bianca stood close to Vic's side, turned sideways so she could speak discreetly, her voice kept hushed. "Do we risk it?" she asked quietly. "We don't know where this thing is, and looking at the damage it did to Jack I'm not sure we're going to be much of a match against it. What do you think?"

Vic looked down at his new XO he barely even meet yet. "I think short of me playing Kool-Aid man through the walls we really don't have a choice. At least on the move it will allow us some back and forth if the creature attacks. If we stay here we have nowhere to go." Vic whispered back as best he could. "The creature did that against an a lone crewman if we stay grouped and anyone with out a weapon hits the deck if we are engaged..." he paused looking at the group. "Like he said it's our only option."

She sighed and shook her head. It wasn't an appealing thought, traipsing back through the complex with this creature 'somewhere'. The last thing she wanted was a surprise visit from this thing, but it seemed that there was little other choice. "Work out what formation you want everyone moving in," Bianca said quietly. "We'll give them a few more minutes and then we'll get up and going."

Casey leaned back against the wall of the room, her steady gaze continually roaming around the room, phaser steady in one hand. Though her phaser was unholstered the safety was still off. In a room this crowded the last thing she wanted was to accidentally fire the phaser and cause injury to an innocent person, it seemed that there was enough injury already. She cast a glance at the Assistant Chief of Security and the XO talking at the door and grimaced. Those kinds of hushed discussions rarely ended well and something told her this time was going to be no different.

Vic thought quickly about how he wanted to move out. He turned to Bianca and the group. "Listen up we are gonna be on the move again. Listen to your assignments because this is a coordinated movement. I will lead Bradshaw and XO on my hip to point me in the right direction. All none security fall in next. Rest of my detail pull up the six. If we are engaged everyone not able or willing to fight goes to the floor to get out of our way. Everyone else create a shell around our team and call out what you see." Vic looked over the tired team some looked scared. That was actually a good thing to an extent. "Any questions?"

Bianca watched as the team started to move, falling into positions. There was a sense of relief in some ways that they were doing something, not just sitting around waiting for the creature to come get them. "Let's hope the deities are watching over us today," she said quietly with one last glance toward Vic.

Casey stayed in the rear of the room, leaning against the wall, occasionally glancing and nodding at the security officer that was standing next to her to acknowledge his comments while she waited for the rest of the team to assemble. Once they were assembled she would fall in behind as they started to exit the room, but until then there was no need for her to rush into anything.

It happened quickly, so quickly it was almost completely missed. There was a sudden scuffle, a strangled cry and then Casey's body was gone, dragged into the vent behind her, leaving only a smear of blood where the creature had dragged her up the wall. There was a moment of stunned silence before the two security guards that had been standing closest to Casey reacted, one letting out an ear piercing scream, the other grabbing her and pulling her away toward the center of the room.

Bianca turned toward Vic, unable to hide the shock and surprise on her face. "Move out!" she ordered. "Let's go!"

What in the four spheres of Hel was going on Vic was trying to take in what he could. He had to get these people to safety. He opened the door and started down the corridor waiting to hear which way to go next. He held his phaser at the ready scanning the whole corridor as he advanced. "Keep up, call out if engaged."

With a deep breath, Bianca hurriedly fell into step slightly behind Vic, next to James as the group moved quickly into the corridor, following the directions that the Engineer offered as they started back to where they originally came from.
