New Ship Assignment

Posted on Thu Apr 16th, 2020 @ 12:44pm by Lieutenant Midori Kimoto

Mission: Under A Glassy Surface, Where We Don't Belong...
Location: Shuttle (En Route)
Timeline: Current

Midori stood with the shuttle pilot who was also an old friend and her parents to say goodbye. She hugged her parents who were seeing her off since they didn’t know how long it would be when they saw her next. Her father smiled at his only daughter, “Watashitachi wa dochira mo anata o aishite ori, anata ga inakute sabishīdesu.”

Midori smiled back at her father, “Watashi mo anata o aishiteimasu. Dekiru kagiri anata to renraku o toriau koto o yakusoku shimasu.”

Her mother put both of her hands on her shoulder and looked into her eyes, “Anata wa yoidesu. Anata ga sewa o suru.”

Midori and her friend got into the shuttle. Three other Starfleet officers with the rank of Ensign came aboard a few minutes later. After a few minutes, they took off. Midori started complaining about the shuttle pilot and how awful she was. She got up and walked to her friend.

After a minute, she started arguing with her friend. Three other passengers were all wondering what the commotion was all about. The pilot seemed to get very mad, “Lieutenant, you are not a pilot. You have no training whatsoever. But if you think you can fly this thing better than I can, go right ahead.” So, Midori took over.

The other Starfleet officers looked in horror and Midori and shuttle pilot friend laughed. Midori turned to the others, “As if.” It turned out that they knew each other from their Academy days and decided to play a joke. They were both assigned to separate ships. Midori was assigned to the USS Dreadnought.
“It was fun reconnecting. Too bad we aren’t assigned to the same ship. It would have been fun.” Her friend smiled.

Midori sighed, “Yes, too bad.” She frowned, “I really hate having to go to a new ship. I must get to know a whole new group of people and you know how much I hate it.”

“Oh Midori. I swear you haven’t changed a bit. I thought you got over it.” She thought for a moment, “Look, you are a likeable person when you want to be. You don’t have to be everyone’s friend. You just need to get along with them.”

“You’re right. I will try my best.” Midori was a little nervous.
They finally arrived at Midori’s new home. “Well, this is it. Maybe one day, we’ll meet again.”

Midori smiled and nodded, “Hai, aru hi.” She took a deep breath and stepped out. This was it. A new beginning.

Once inside, she was greeted, "Hello Lieutenant. You made it just in time. We'll be departing very soon."

"Thank you for letting me know." She went off to find her quarters.
